THE TRENCH
In 2013 Andy decided to build a trench to commemorate the upcoming centenary of The Great War. He had been motivated by stories and pictures from his own family past. A grandfather in service during the war along with many great uncles. Stirred into research he found himself discovering fascinating stories that inspired him to start writing songs. Having been in local bands all his life he called on muso friends to join him on the project. They were in turn affected by the memories and stories of a 100 years ago and found themselves in a rich creative vein.
The Back to the Front Experience has had over 5,000 visitors since it opened. The majority are schoolchildren. It is truly one substantial remembrance project.
THE TIN SHED
Seimon has been the curator of The Tin Shed in Laugharne for the last 7 years. The WW2 Home Front experience is one of the most sought after tourist spots in Wales. Seimon works with all ages and the shed has become an invaluable educational tool for schools. The Trench and The Shed work together with schools visiting both day visits.
Seimon is obviously a passionate historian but also a keen drummer. Having played in bands with Andy over the years he was instrumental in kick starting the project now known as TRENCHFOOT.
Alongside the museum Seimon has developed the Shed as a event venue. Top musical acts from the UK and the Americas have performed in the pole barn which is an integral part of the development of the museum as a multi-faceted site. The shed is also used as a film location for TV programmes and documentaries.
